Alles over bevlogenheid (Dutch for "all about work engagement") is an initiative of IMPACT on the Job. Here we share knowledge about energy, teams and leadership. If you want to find out how your own organisation is doing, we can help with the scans and programmes from Leiders.nl.

What is work engagement?

Work engagement is, in the words of Wilmar Schaufeli and Arnold Bakker, "a positive, fulfilling, work-related state of mind that is characterized by vigor, dedication, and absorption". Engaged employees have energy, feel dedicated to their work and become fully absorbed in it. That is something different from being satisfied. Satisfied people like things the way they are; engaged people want to go further. Read more in the difference between a workaholic and an engaged employee or in from satisfied to engaged.
